Your Responsibilities to Us

In our view, the best care takes place when the patient and the Surgery work in partnership. In a partnership there are responsibilities for both parties. The following are what we would expect from our patients.

  • We ask that you treat the doctors, all practice staff and their families with the same courtesy and respect.
  • Please read our practice leaflet and / or the practice website. This will help you get the best out of the service we offer.
  • Please let us know if you change your name, address or telephone number, including your mobile telephone number.
  • Please consult our practice leaflet / website for advice about how to manage minor ailments in the home.
  • Please ensure that if you need to cancel an appointment, you do so in good time so that another patient may benefit.

Although we are happy to do home visits if you are in genuine need, such visits are time consuming and not available as a matter of convenience.

You should telephone for your investigation results after 11.30am and not before the day recommended.

Each doctor and nurse will always be away on average for one week per year for continuing education as distinct from their annual leave.

Relationships between practice staff and patients should at all time observe professional boundaries. Personal approaches to members of staff soliciting friendship or any other type of personal relationship will be considered as inappropriate and as an unwelcome intrusion for any member of staff concerned. The same will apply to any contacts made via social networking sites such as Face Book. The practice reserves the right to take action to protect staff in the event of such cases.

We understand that patients can often feel anxious and worried. Our staff will do their best to deal sympathetically with you at all times however the practice does operate a “Zero Tolerance” policy towards patients who are in any way:

  • Rude
  • Abusive
  • Threatening
  • Demanding or Violent.

We will remove from our list patients who are violent or seriously abusive towards any of the practice staff. Family members of these patients may also be removed from our list. Violent patients and their families may now forfeit the right to be registered with a doctor of their choice. They may be allocated to specialist GP practices by the Primary Care Trust.
